Senior PM

We're looking for an exceptional product leader to be the Senior Product Manager for our OtherInbox products. This is an important and strategic role within Return Path, in which, you will lead OIB product efforts and work closely with engineering, counterparts throughout Return Path, as well as customers and prospective customers of both OtherInbox and Return Path.

Not only will you own our current Web and mobile apps, which have an active base of over two million end-users, you will be responsible for the internal data feeds, which power many Return Path products. You’ll join an experienced team, working closely with engineering, design, business development, the OtherInbox GM and groups throughout our parent company, Return Path. We believe in quick cycles of innovation and subscribe to a philosophy that you've only failed if you haven't learned from your results.

The ideal candidate is driven to solve complex problems, loves big data, believes that a great user experience is critical to success and understands that email remains a killer app. This is one of those rare opportunities where you can work in a startup environment that has the resources and security of an established company.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • 4 - 5 years experience as a product manager or equivalent experience managing the process of defining and building products (bonus points for email products)
  • Demonstrated capacity for developing product strategy and executable roadmaps
  • Proven experience launching new products, while maintaining multiple projects at varying forms of maturity
  • A history of gathering, defining requirements, documenting requirements, and shipping high quality products in an iterative environment
  • Love fast, agile methodologies, adhering to “build, measure, learn, repeat”
  • Experience with market research, competitive analysis, product concept validation, and prototype testing
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and prioritize needs across multiple stakeholders and balance resources across multiple projects
  • A blend of business and technical savvy - you understand the big-picture and how to translate that vision into a reality.
  • Travel occasionally (a couple of days a month on average)

Engineering Director

Engineering Directors are responsible for the development, delivery, support, and maintenance of our Context.IO products. You’ll own the engineering process to predictably develop, and maintain our products by maximizing the talent of the team. Directors are expected to regularly report on the "health" of the Product Development team via observation, data and analytics. The position reports to the VP, Engineering and will work closely with an existing Director of Engineering & Operations as well as Product Management, Customer Support and Marketing.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • At least five years development management or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with delivering SaaS (cloud-based) consumer products.
  • Successful experience working in a hands-on, fast-paced, creative entrepreneurial environment in a cross-functional capacity.
  • Experience as an effective coach, motivator and manager of diverse people.
  • First-hand experience bringing products to market in early stage companies.
  • Experience scaling products to support millions of users.
  • Technical programming experience and skills (e.g., IMAP, Ruby on Rails, OAuth, Hadoop).
  • Experience working on large data problems.
  • Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills, plus the ability to function on a tactical level as needed.
  • Results-oriented, high-energy self-starter with great interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable owning a project and wearing many hats to get the job done.

Senior Rails Developer

As a Senior Rails Developer at OtherInbox, you will be building the next generation of personal email productivity tools. You will also be improving the features and functionality of our existing product set. As a member of our growing product development team, you’ll work closely with other Engineers and members of our Operations and Product Management teams.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • 4+ years production experience
  • 18+ months of practical Rails experience
  • A versatile programmer with significant experience in Ruby, Rails, SQL, Unix, Shell Scripting
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Software-as-a-Service development and deployment (SaaS)
  • Redis and Resque
  • Distributed computing (Hadoop, MapReduce)
  • NoSQL/Column databases (HBase, Cassandra, Toyko Tyrant)
  • Knowledge of email technology a plus, e.g. SMTP, IMAP
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services
  • You’re comfortable owning a project, wearing many hats to get the job done
  • You’d rather spend your time solving problems than architecting systems
  • You are interested in working in an agile environment
