More Overseas Love For OtherInbox

German Blogger Prefers OtherInbox Over Traditional, One-Inbox Email

By Nerd Supreme

April 26, 2009

The German tech site Nerd Supreme recently gave its readers a glowing review of OtherInbox and how it can help solve email overload once and for all. They explain the sign-up process and how a personal domain name leads to better organization and control over the “bacn” in your inbox.

Offering as great an endorsement as we’ve seen yet, they finish their overview with this (roughly translated): “I’ve personally used OtherInbox since their beta phrase and am extremely satisfied. In my opinion, it is cleary better than any one-way email solution.”

Upcoming Speaking Gigs

I'll be at a couple of different conferences over the next few weeks, talking about our experiences building OtherInbox, so please come on out and say hello!

On April 24th-25th, I'll be at JSConf 2009 in Arlington, VA, the world's first JavaScript conference.  I'll be speaking about the SproutCore framework we used to build our web application.

On May 2nd, I'll be speaking on the "Getting your technology right" panel at Bootstrap Maryland

On May 4th, I'll be teaching a tutorial on building SproutCore and Ruby-on-Rails applications at RailsConf 2009 in Las Vegas.

On May 7th, also at RailsConf, I'll be giving a talk called "It's Not Always Sunny in the Clouds", where I'll discuss the challenging aspects of building a Rails application using cloud computing.

On May 12th, at B'more on Rails, I'll be giving an introduction to Rails talk called "Beyond the Hype", aimed at explaining what's good and bad about Ruby on Rails.

Later in May, I'll be giving a completely non-technical presentation about improv comedy and the human condition.  I'll update this post when the organizers have announced the details.
I'll be the guy wearing an OtherInbox shirt. Come say hello!

CNet took a look back at the companies presented at both TechCrunch50 and DemoFALL last year, including OtherInbox. OIB is not only mentioned for its successful public launch but also for being one of the only services with a paid premium business model. Compared to some of our competition from last fall, OtherInbox is definitely ahead of the curve!

    OtherInbox Superuser Geoffrey D.

    Dear OtherInbox,

I'd just like to thank-you for your great product!

I am a sproutcore developer, and first heard about your product through
that channel, as you were developing it. I
was immediately intrigued by the idea of having many email addresses to
hand out. I've attempted to do this before with gmail and the "+" (ie myname+otherinbox[at]gmail.com), that failed horribly, as most email
    inputs don't accept '+'s.

One of my first reactions when starting to use OIB, was "oh, not
another email to have to check", but I found almost right away, that
you had struck just the right balance in sending out daily summaries,
and notices of the first email to the account. Now I find myself
checking my OIB with out even thinking.

I now have a gmail address that only gets emails that I really need to
action right away, and everything else is neatly filed away for me to
read in my own time. Genius!
I shared this with my work mates who also have lots of email, what got
them interested is the gmail syncing, such a great idea, no need to
have to hand out new addresses to all the sites already signed up for.

I've seen OIB develop from near the very start, and I'm very impressed
with the way that you've handled bugs and feature requests. The choice
of Sproutcore as the tech to use was, by far, the right one!

    Thanks for OIB!

    A very grateful user,

    Geoffrey D.
